Over the weekend I made these shrimp tacos. (Apologies for the quality of the pic, it was really late and all I had was my iPhone.)
It was a pretty easy recipe- the hardest part was making the avocado salsa, cause I didn’t have a food processor and had to do the chopping by hand. (Not a good idea when you’re drunk and hungry.)
I’ll rate them a 7/10. They could have been more flavorful, but I made them myself, so I get points for that.
So it’s the end of the week.
I’ve been feeling pretty shitty as of late due to matters of the heart.
Which is seriously the worst feeling in the world- caring about someone who doesn’t care about you back.
& I don’t want to do it again.
I know it’s inevitable, though. & i’ll have to feel this all over again.

But I’m trying to look on the bright side of things… this weekend I’m going to be living my dream.
I will be cat-sitting in the East Village. I realize how that sounds, but let me finish. The East Village is a place I’ve always dreamed of living, but due to lack of finances and the fact that I’ll probably never have a more lucrative career, is someplace I’ll never live.
My “20-SOMETHING YR OLD DREAM” is to have a really cute apartment all to myself… and get a cat.
I’ll be living in a studio apartment on St. Marks Place for 5 days with Toby the cat. He and I will play and I will cook tacos and read my book and cuddle with Toby. & it will be magical.
The apartment is right next to Crif Dogs which I am sure I will frequent during my time in the EV.
This will be my first-ever staycation in NYC… & i’ll be living in the coolest neighborhood ever!!! I think it comes at a good time… it’ll give me a chance to reclaim my independence and have some me-time to reevaluate my life and the direction I want to take it in.
So looking forward to making these.

I ate at Cascabel Taqueria on the UES the other night and had these little gems. Shrimp, cilantro, onions, black beans, spices, tomatillo sauce, lime. I score these Camaron Tacos a 7/10. They were pretty flavorful, but 8.50 for two small shrimp tacos? WAY overpriced. But I knew what I was getting myself into… In any case, the price drops the point value.
I like my tacos cheap.
So last week I was in LA where I had the best fish tacos of my life. No joke. I’d take a bullet for these tacos. I want to eat them every day. And get this: they were $1.50 a piece. That’s unheard of here in nyc. Like, completely unheard of. It made me quite cynical upon my return to the city. At work on Monday, my boss called me out for not being “in the zone”- and you know why? Cause I was thinking about these damn tacos and how it’ll be months or even years before I have them again.
Effing delicious tacos.
